Why do caricatures of Chinese people often have buck teeth?

Different tooth shape and the way they%26#039;re set. Look up %26quot;Asian shovel teeth%26quot; and you%26#039;ll see what I mean. It probably looked odd to Europeans when they first saw that, but that%26#039;s relative I guess.

Many of us Native people have the same sort of teeth, they%26#039;re a different shape with a different appearance. It%26#039;s something you have to see to get.

Why do caricatures of Chinese people often have buck teeth?
Because that is the stereotype.
Reply:whites are racist? wow thats harsh. definitely just as bad as the people who draw asians with buck teeth. To answer your questions it%26#039;s because way back in the day of WWll. caricatures take anything abnormal and exaggerate it beyong belief. since a lot of asians at the time didn%26#039;t have the chance to straighen their teeth, the cartoonist took it too a whole other level. just like George Bush%26#039;s ears ot John Kerry%26#039;s long face.
Reply:It started with caricatures of Hirohito during WW2, I highly doubt you have seen any pictures like that drawn in the last 50 years because the PC police would have a fit. It was the Japanese drawn like that, not the Chinese
Reply:the same reason The English are drawn with crooked teeth and the Americans are drawn FAT!!

Its all down to stereotyping I%26#039;m english so maybe I didn%26#039;t spell that right ?
